Rolo-Boko

The game consists of six flat wooden boards (called “Bolos”), shaped and printed to resemble a human face in profile, and two metal wheels (a bit like yo-yos, and called “Rolos”).

Each “Bolo” is given a name: Mr. Punch (the character from the “Punch and Judy” show); Joey (a clown); Bertie (a man with spectacles and a cigar); Colonel Bogey (an elderly man with a white moustache); Jack (a sailor); and Algy (a man with a monocle). Their features, such as noses and mouths, are often exaggerated in size and shape. Each has a fly that has landed on their head.

The aim of the game is to balance the “Rolos” on the edge of the “Bolos”, moving the “Bolo” around so that the “Rolo” rolls all the way around without falling off. The “Rolo” is supposed to start and finish at the point where the fly has landed on the face.

The box features a cartoon of a family playing the game in their sitting room. The mother and father sit in chairs, while their son and daughter stand. There is a fireplace in the background.
