Tissue Couture

Dolls are just one of the much-loved toys with fans of all ages around the world; girls or boys, women or men alike. With their ever-changing costume, tons of accessories, size and shape of dolls, this museum tour about Barbie dolls’ collection will also be showing how the designs of these dolls appealed to different audiences and their influences and impact in different markets.

How about clothing made out of tissue? Ever thought how versatile toilet paper or tissue can be? A line of fashionable outfits and gowns made out of “flushable papers” has taken over the world of papercraft! Now you get a chance to learn how to make a Tissue Couture doll in this 1.5-hour tour and workshop (2:00pm – 3:30pm).

You will also get the opportunity to meet the man who has a massive success on his “Flushable Fashion” dolls, a toilet paper couture creation. He who is also known as Jian Yang just so happens to carry the title of having the most extensive Barbie collection belonging to a man in the world!

In two short years, the dresses have been featured in publications from VOGUE to Buzzfeed, from blogs to broadsheets. They’ve been discussed in countries he has never heard of, and images of them continue to circulate the internet. This craft master has even been asked about exhibitions, partnerships, commissions.
