MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

Our final Guerrilla of 2019 is coming your way! It’s our best one yet for a late-night museum experience that enlivens your visit with nostalgia. Turn back time to not just the start of 2019 but to 19th century as you get to feast your eyes on our tin toys that are brought in specially for this Guerrilla event!

This December’s Guerrilla showcases an exclusive set of 12 tin toy artefacts that are OUT of our regular displays in MINT Museum of Toys. Batman, Joker, Ultraman, Godzilla and more. They are familiar characters that you have seen in movies, films and cartoons. Have you wondered what they looked like in the yesteryears? Well, now you can see them immortalized in tin!

The toys are from Billiken toy company, a Japanese toy manufacturer. The company started in 1976, selling US retro toys in Kotto – Dori, a street prominent for its antique shops. Billiken’s toy figures are famous for their detailed features, thanks to its master sculptor Hayao Hama who spends about six months designing a single toy character model. Hama creates only 2 to 3 new models per year, with each model producing only about 1000 to 2000 pieces of toys.

Renowned for their sleek design, bold colours and intriguing mechanisms, is what makes the toys awesome, and might we add, extra cool than any other plastic figurines out in the toy stores today.

See you, your friends and family here on 28 December for a, if not, the most, wonderful time at Guerrilla. Every Guerrilla adult ticket purchased entitles you to a 10% off on any alcoholic drinks at Mr Punch Public House, a gastropub located at basement and rooftop.

A NATION’S PASTIME

In celebration of our nation’s 52nd birthday, MINT Museum of Toys is delving into our nation’s favourite pastimes. Among all the chaptehs, hopscotch and country erasers, who can forget the simplest yet most complicated five stones? Coming with a limited edition National Day print, this latest Make+Play teaches you the basics of sewing, while you stitch your own Five Stones Set. Complementing the workshop, you will also be brought on a guided tour of nostalgic pastimes in the life of a Singaporean pioneer. Materials will be provided.

RECYCLE AND REDISCOVER

Some of the world’s best games are created through a moment of imagination. It is this moment that gave rise to many of the prized exhibits inside our collection. This Singapore Night Festival, we celebrate the magic of creativity as we create a life-size sculpture out of recycled everyday materials.

This Singapore Night Festival, let your imagination run free, as you build a life-size sculpture from simple materials. Work with other creative souls to bring your thoughts to life, as you piece, paint, and party with professionals from Artflocks Studio guiding you to a masterpiece. Each session will yield 1 sculpture.
